I have the honour to inform you that owing to
the default of the firm to whom the contract for the erection
of a Furniture Workshop and Store was awarded in April 1934
and the necessity of employing a new contractor it was not
possible to complete the work during that year.
2.
The sum provided under Head 34 Sub-Head 9 of
the 1934 Estimates was $27,000 of which $10,586.84 had been
expended up to December 31st, 1934. $2,000 only has been
provided under Head 34 Sub-Head 42 of the Estimates for 1935
and it will be necessary in due course to approach the Legislative Council for a revote of approximately $12,000. I should be glad to receive your authority, in accordance with Colonial Regulation No.281, to do so.
3.
The building is being erected in Kowloon and
not, as originally intended, on the Island of Hong Kong. RAIN.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
Governor, &c.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
SIR P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER, G.B.E., M.C., M.P.,
